The Story Behind Believe Home Care & Therapy

What We Believe

At Believe, we believe the person receiving care should always be at the heart of everything we do.

We believe care should be personal, respectful and enabling — not simply about completing tasks. Every individual has their own abilities, goals, preferences, routines and aspirations, and our role is to support them to live the life they choose.

Our experienced and skilled team provides person-centred care alongside therapy-informed support. We have experience in prescribing disability equipment and recommending adaptations to homes and living environments, developing detailed care plans, providing personal care and supporting people to maximise their independence.

Our work aims to enable people to maintain or regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), promote safety and wellbeing, and support people to remain at home as safely, independently and comfortably as possible, for as long as possible.

Claudia’s experience remains at the heart of why Believe exists. It reminds us that behind every care package, assessment or referral is a person and a family who deserve to be listened to, supported and treated with dignity.

Because at Believe, we don’t just see the care needs — we see the person.

Believe Home Care & Therapy was inspired by the late Claudia Osei-Acheampong, the 60-year-old mother of our founder, Benedicta.

Following a stroke and living with multiple health needs, Claudia’s experience gave Benedicta first-hand insight into the challenges many people and their families can face after leaving hospital and returning home.

As an Occupational Therapist herself, Benedicta understood the importance of timely access to occupational therapy, physiotherapy, appropriate equipment, adaptations and social care support. However, navigating these services was often difficult. The need to repeatedly return to the GP for referrals, contact adult social care and wait for appropriate support could mean that a person’s needs changed or deteriorated before the right intervention was available.

This experience highlighted something important: people should not have to reach crisis point before they receive the support they need to remain safe, independent and well at home.

It was from this experience that Believe Home Care & Therapy was born.

Our Team

Benedicta is the founder of Believe Home Care & Therapy and a qualified and registered Occupational Therapist with over 9 years of experience within the healthcare sector. Her previous roles have included overseeing occupational therapy services across 15 care homes within a Primary Care Network (PCN), managing a multidisciplinary team within a medium secure hospital, working within adult medicine, and providing services within adult social care. This diverse experience has given Benedicta a strong understanding of the challenges people can face when transitioning between hospital, community and social care services. Her clinical experience, combined with her leadership and management background, has shaped Believe Home Care & Therapy’s therapy-led, person-centred approach to care. Benedicta is passionate about supporting people to remain independent, safe and confident within their own homes, while ensuring that care is centred around what matters most to each individual. At Believe, our experience informs our care — but the person always comes first.
